(KRON) -- A 14-year-old boy was allegedly driving a stolen SUV on Santa Clara Street in San Jose when the teen struck and injured a police officer, officials said. A second San Jose Police Department officer fired one shot at the fleeing SUV.

Two more boys, ages 14 and 16, were also in the SUV, and none of the teens were injured by gunfire, according to SJPD.

The police shooting happened just before 3 a.m. while officers were attempting to stop the SUV. "As officers exited their patrol vehicle, the suspect drove the SUV in the direction of one of the approaching officers and struck that officer with the vehicle. The second officer discharged one round from his department-issued handgun," SJPD wrote.

With the assistance of Automated License Plate Reader cameras, officers later found the SUV on Tully Road. The three boys were hiding nearby, police said.

SJPD did not release the suspects' names because they are juveniles.
